STEM Ambassadors participate in TMC Works to gain real-world job experience and improve their STEM skills and knowledge.  As part of this program, STEM Ambassadors can explore STEM career opportunities or related educational opportunities.

STEM Ambassador goals:

  1. Learn about a STEM industry or business
  2. Meet professionals in that industry
  3. See what the work or learning environment looks like
  4. Understand a typical career progression and educational requirements

STEM Supervisors can make connections and set up visits for STEM Ambassadors with STEM industry worksites or education programs (college, technical or trade schools, apprenticeships) by doing the following:

  1. Identify and encourage STEM Ambassadors to visit a worksite or education program.
  2. Reach out to STEM industry worksites that may be interested in participating.
  3. Match STEM Ambassadors to work sites.
  4. Explain to the worksite representative the goals of the STEM Ambassadors' visit.
  5. Set up a tour, visit and/or meeting for STEM Ambassadors with worksite representatives that can expose STEM Ambassadors to their industry and occupation.
  6. Set expectations for what STEM Ambassadors in the program will do when they visit the industry worksite, discuss professionalism

STEM Industry worksites will help STEM Ambassadors explore future career opportunities by doing the following:

  1. Find staff to meet and visit with STEM Ambassadors.
  2. Inform STEM Ambassadors of requirements to visit the work site prior to visit (dress code, ID requirements, etc.)
  3. Help STEM Ambassadors meet their goals for the worksite visit and answer their questions.
