Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield and Boys & Girls Club 2023 Youth of the Year Keisha Hernandez spoke at the Lights On Afterschool rally on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 4:30 pm.
This carnival-themed event brought together families from the Boys & Girls Club of Nampa, the Nampa School District, and the Treasure Valley YMCA. It was one of the thousands of events across America this October to highlight the vital work that afterschool programs do to support student’s well-being and academic growth.
Keisha Hernandez is a senior at Columbia High School. She has been part of the Boys & Girls Club of Nampa since she was 9 years old. She is president of various programs in their teen center. Keisha is driven by knowledge and equality and one of her goals is to be an advocate for youth. She plans on pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice and to dedicate her time to strengthening her community.
